What are Use Years??
So you picked a resort and how many points now what? The next deciding component is the use year. Think of this as a month. That month EVERY year you get the amount of points you bought. So if you had a September use year, every September 1, you get those points. they are valid 364 days for when you get them.
Here’s some figures. Assume a 150 point contract that is a September Use Year

So what happened there right? You get them September 1, but it expires one day before the following year. Worth mentioning is there not all 12 months have a use year. The choices for valid months are below

- March
- April
- June
- August
- September
- October
- December
You can see the ones that don’t exist are therefore January, May, July, November.
So you now understand functionally what is a Use Year. Why does this matter? Read the next section about banking windows and I’ll circle back to the importance of Use Year.
