If you haven’t been following Lorcana is a Disney Trading Card Game that is Disney’s answer to Magic the Gathering, Flesh and Blood, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. The game offers similar mechanics that children ages 6 or above can easily comprehend and play along! The game is made by Ravensburger and was released August 18, 2023. There’s currently two active sets to play: First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn.
Luckily there’s now news in one fell swoop to talk about the 2024 roadmap. While some of the products announced is excessive, the aim is to provide a set a quarter with new tournaments and exclusive “enchanted” cards to be given as prizes.
Currently there are many rarities in the game, there’s common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary and the most covetted Enchanted. Enchanted are almost full art cards with foiling from edge to edge. They’re generally meant for collecting versus play as they average $75 to $480 depedning on which you get! There are other ways to get enchantes like from the D100 collectors box, with exclusive arts, conventions, and now events!
Below is the release schedule for 2024. Worth mentioning is that they want to introdue a new product entirely that’s not bounded to a set per se. It’s used for beginners to learn and build their own decks. They’re calling it Lorcana Gateway and it’s meant to start two players with 30 cards, then casually increase mechanics added until each has a 60 card deck. It’s slated to be released August 9, 2024, with an expected retail Cost of $24.99

Honestly as i’m writing this is NEED this immediately!!! Though i’d never win one as i’m not the greatest player. a promo as an enchanted??? What yes please!
When Lorcana Launched they had no real events or organized play. Stores were given the promo cards, but honestly were not enforcing or doing anything with them. Some store just gave them out, some actually held nights, some didnt give them. Ravensburger is setting out to change that with NEW prizes and HIGHER QUALITY.
In May 2024, Europe and North America will begin the crusade for this gem. There will be regional events called Lorcana Challenges where the top four players are invited to the European and North American Chapionships. These championships will be held Q4 of 2024. These top players will then be invited to play at the World Championships in 2025!
More details about this is slated to release around March 2024
In the meantime there’s even more events at the local level called Set Champion ships. The first will follow set 3 Into the Inklands!.
These organized play events are hosted by local hobby stores and award a new Enchanted Stitch – Rock Star Promo card as the first place prize, with the first and second place players receiving a playmat also featuring Stitch – Rock Star.
